Dr. Stephen Everett

The Servant Leader is a seminary-level course exploring the biblical theology and practical application of servant leadership, drawing a clear distinction between worldly models of leadership and the leadership culture of the Kingdom of God. Its primary text is the Gospel of Mark — the New Testament’s definitive portrait of Jesus as the Servant of God — and the course is anchored throughout in Dr. Everett’s original manuscript of the same title, challenging students to embrace servanthood not as a diminishment of calling, but as its highest expression.

Students will examine Jesus as the prototype of servant leadership — His humility, obedience, sacrifice, and reconciling love — tracing the servant imagery through the Hebrew prophets (especially Ezekiel and Isaiah), and apply eight core learning outcomes to their own emerging spheres of influence — pastoral ministry, education, business and finance, media and the arts, government, family life, and beyond.
